You guys, while it took me a couple of years to jump on the Instant Pot train, I have been following their brand for a few months.

If you have an Instant Pot, you are not going to be disappointed with their newest device release! In fact, I think you will love it.

The Instant Vortex

The newest family member is the Instant Vortex Plus 7-in-1 Air Fryer Oven, and it came out about a week ago as a “soft sell”!

You heard me right, a 7-1 Air Fryer Oven that also broils, toasts, roasts, bakes, reheats, and dehydrates, (which I am most excited about)!

I have a feeling this is going to become a new household staple for all Instant Pot and non-Instant Pot enthusiasts alike.

Now, while I have never had an air fryer before, but they are supposed to use a heat that circulates to give food a fried texture without using a ton of oil.

That for me is a plus, because I hate using so much oil in food, and I also despise using the stove.

The Instant Vortex Functions

Other than the 7 cooking options, the Instant Vortex Plus comes with a few tools to get you started. There is a drip tray included in the package that sits at the bottom of the machine. My one suggestion is that you use parchment paper or aluminum foil for coking to make it an easier cleaning process.

The machine itself has a rotate function and a spit so that you can cook rotisserie chicken in about 30 minutes! In fact, I tried the air fryer function yesterday with some strips of bacon, and it was perfectly salty and crispy in under ten minutes.

The device is touch screen and you can update the cook time and temperature with the touch of a button. The Vortex has a 10-quart capacity and can cook using both of the cooking trays at the same time (which come with the package).

The included rotisserie cage is perfect for cooking fries, chicken wings, nuggets, and more.

The function I am most excited about is being able to dehydrate vegetables and fruit, and even meat to make beef jerky! While this function can take between 7-15 hours from start to finish, I have a feeling the end product will be super tasty.

There is nothing I like more than crispy dehydrated strawberries!

Initial Thoughts

Lastly, the device is so easy to clean. There are only two negatives thus far.

This first is that the front door of the air fryer can come off, but after much pulling, prodding, and pushing, my husband and I are both afraid to pull It off again, and break it (lol). So definitely keep an eye on that if you purchase this product.

Secondly, I was surprised at how loud the air fryer is.

I have a small convection oven right now which doesn’t make a lot of noise, so it is definitely a sound adjustment.

I am so excited to try this product because I truly believe in the Instant Pot brand. The Instant Pot Ultra (which I currently own,) has never let me down before, and I am so excited to try out something that I have never had before.

As someone who enjoys cooking, I am looking forward to using this instead of the stove or my oven (which takes so long to heat up and cool down).

The Instant Pot Vortex Air Fryer can only be currently found at Walmart, but I am sure they will begin selling at other stores in the near future!

I am so excited to share some of the tasty food and experiments that we will be working on soon! Let me know if you have one and what your thoughts are or if you have any questions!

Xoxo, Kristina

  6. Air fryers can also cook a hell of a lot more food than a deep fryer and can be used for things like grilling a steak or baking a pizza. It’s like having a combo oven and deep fryer, except it fits on your counter and doesn’t require frozen food to be thawed before cooking.
