Tech Tuesday: Google Nest Home Hub

0

We are back with the newest installment for Tech Tuesday, and this is one of my favorite smart product’s you guys! Today we are going to look at the Google Nest Home Hub.

Last year around Christmas time, I remember my mom asking me if my husband would like a Google Home Hub.

I was like, “Google home what?” I am going to be honest. I did not even research what it was and just told her that we he would not like it because we were not a smart home.

Well, fast-forward about six months later to June 2019. Beau and I were looking for something at Best-Buy, and we stumbled upon the Google Nest Home Hub.

Intrigued, we pressed the button and watched the tutorial video play.

I remember my eyes getting wide and lighting up as the Google Home Hub was reading a recipe to the user step by step. My dream comes true!

Not having to endlessly search on my phone for a recipe is a dream come true.

Those of you who look up recipes on your tiny phone screen know what I’m talking about.

I talked about that Google Nest Home Hub all night and for the coming nights.

I had just started Invisalign and I was in a fowl mood, and being the sweet husband, he is, Beau told me he had found the Hub online for a lower price and coupon so he bought it for me.

It took about a week for it to arrive, but when it did, I was surprised at how easy it was to set up. Now, I will warn you, the screen is only 4.5 inches, but it has some powerful features.

The device does have to be constantly plugged in to work, but it is the perfect size so it fits anywhere on your counter.

What Functions Does the Google Nest Home Hub Have?

The Google Nest Home Hub does not have a video chat function, but if you have the Nest Video Doorbell (which I mentioned in last Tech Tuesday’s post,) you can see who is at your front door from the hub!

As mentioned, the set up is easy as you plug it in, and then the rest is done from your Google Home app on your phone. You can set up Voice Match for everyone in your home when talking to the device, and you can also connect, music, video services, etc.

One of my favorite features, is that you can use your voice to control the lights, nest cameras, and nest door lock without having to open your phone. (Do not be mistaken though, you can still use your phone to do all of these as well.)

The Home Hub is very user friendly. If you wanted to learn how to make a recipe, you just have to say “Hey Google, find me a recipe for Instant Pot Chicken,) and then you can have the hub read you the ingredients and recipes step by step or scroll through it yourself.

You can virtually ask the device anything, to which it may or may not have an answer.

I personally have a routine set up to where I say “Hey Google, I am home,” and it will turn on Pandora for me while I wash the dishes.

If I am being completely honest with you guys, this is one of my favorite all time purchases. The Home Hub is pretty versatile and makes things so much easier whether you have your hands full or you are feeling a little lazy.

If you are ever struggling on what to make for dinner, and cannot decide if it’s either Chick-Fil-A or Instant Pot BBQ Chicken, all you have to do is say “Hey Google, flip a coin” and it will decide for you.

It’s made things so much easier for us when my answer to “what do you want for dinner” is “I don’t know.” Lol. But seriously, it’s usually Chick-Fil-A everytime!
